Dear White Horse CWC Members and Friends,

well, what can I say...just a huge apology about the time its taken to update our website. Time just doesn't stand still, does it. I was so proud about finally have the website up and running....and then never found the time to update it! Its going to change as of now, promise!

The club has been going for 29 years now, quite an achievement in this day and age I think. Thankfully the club's move to Cranberry Moss Community Centre in Kilwinning in October 2008 has saved the club, great to see that we now have a bit of money in the bank again. We have even had 2 very successful club Festivals. We still have to have a meeting to decide if we are going to have another one....fingers crossed!

Danny and John sorting out the stage

A lot of members and friends are very kind and are donating raffle prizes, I  must say a big 'Thank you' to everyone who has donated. It is such a big help.
Children of around 10 years of age are made very welcome, as long as they are accompanied by a responsible adult. Their entry fee is £1.50.

Sooo, what do we do on a club-night?

We start at 8pm with the band on stage, who play their first set until 9pm. The break is for 30 minutes, during which there is the Stand-up Bingo....which is looked after by Dominic 'Horseshoe' Dunne. You buy your tickets for 50p, then when Dominic calls the numbers, you don't want your numbers to come up....if it does....you are out and sit down. The last person standing gets half the money taken in. The other half goes to club-funds.
The gunfight follows, ably looked after by either of our 2 gun-marshalls....Robert 'Buckshot' Wright or Jim 'The Bandit' Corbett.
The band returns to the stage again for an hour, and at 10.30pm its time for the 2nd break. During this MC Danny 'Blueboy' Strachan takes care of the raffle, door-ticket draw, birthdays and any other intimations.
At the last AGM by popular request, the 'Silver Dollar' was dropped and we now have the 'Open-The-Box' event, which is run by Margaret and Robert. Very popular with everyone andmembers and friends have won quite a bit of money already! At 11pm the band is back on stage, and plays until 11.50pm, when the Trilogy is played, after that normally the band plays one more song and  its 'Over and Out' just before midnight!

The club-bus leaves at midnight, taking  members and friends from Ardrossan, Saltcoats and Stevenston home. This bus was started when the club moved to Kilwinning, and it meant for most of the members to have to get taxis. This bus works out a lot cheaper for everyone, and it has been well supported. Anyone is welcome to use the bus, even just to go home....of course provided that there are seats left.

After that its the long haul of taking down the 40-or-so flags, folding and putting away all the stuff used during the evening, and then everything is carried through to a storage room at the other end of the centre, where it is locked away safely.
We have a great team, who we can rely on to help putting the stuff out during the day, and back again at the end of the night...thank you to you all.

.....and last, but certainly not least, we must say a big 'Thank you' to the centre staff for making us so very welcome, helping us when ever possible, and generally being there for us. Quite a few of the staff have actually joined our club.....and even come along on nights when they are not working.

So, things are looking good for the future.....                                CowboyOnHorseGif

We are now into the new year....2011 is looking good for the club. We really have a nice crowd at our club-nights and a great atmosphere. Its now 3 years since we moved to this venue, and it deffinately worked out  for the best!

Take care, kind regards and remember to 'Keep it Country'!!
Yours,
Eileen Kerr, President
