October 17th 2008....'Tequila'
Its the day the White Horse CWC moves to its new 'home' in Cranberry Moss Community Centre in Kilwinning. The club hadn't been doing so good in the Masonic Club in Saltcoats, where it was for 4 years....in the Labour Club in Saltcoats before that. It was a really good busy night, a lot of visitors, which was great to see. The band 'Tequila' was very good.
One half, Joe, was an old friend form his Rhodes County days, so it was nice to have him here on such an important day for the club.
November 14th....... 'No Regrets'
First time 'No Regrets' plays in our club....and with Bob another ex-member of Rhodes County! Again a great night, good music and lots of new faces....and the club is very hopeful that the move was the right thing to do.
November 28th 2008....'Arizona Flame' It had been a while since 'Arizone Flame' played the club, so it was great to see them back. They were as good as ever, and everyone had a great night....our 3rd in the new venue. Its starting to sink in that we can once again have gun-fights. Also our new shop is now opened, and a lot of stuff is being donated. Lillian Gray has sort of taken over the looking after of the same, for which we are grateful. Lillian has also donated clothes by the suitcase load, which is appreciated so much. Everyone is quite amazed at the great atmosphere in the club, which sadly had been missing for such a long time. Things are looking good!!!! :-)))
Sun December 7th 2008....'Blackstone River'
Members asked to have an early special pre-Christmas night and along with it, it was decided to have a pre-Christmas sale in the club-shop. We started at 5pm and it turned out a GREAT night, but sadly it wasn't very busy, too many people had commitments at this busy time of the year. The band was great, and the people who were there enjoyed it all very much.
December 12th 2008 - Christmas Dance with 'Southern Boulevard'
Hard to believe that we have already been in our new 'home' for 2 months, and now its time for the Christmas Dance. Menu is the usual 3-course dinner, this year supplied by the centre cook. As in past years we had a collection of toys, which the Salvation Army picked up and which will be distributed to children who would otherwise have nothing. Once again the members, friends and even the centre themselves dug deep, and it was quite amazing the amount of toys that were collected. Great to see!
The band 'Southern Boulevard', Peter and Ian' were great, and also played some good X-mas songs. The night was well attended and there was a great atmosphere! I think to know that the club had made the right move by moving here added to the good atmosphere and everyone was relaxed and having a good time.
First Dance in the New Year with Tommy Truesdale & the Sundowners on January 9th 2009
So the new Year is here, and with it 'Tommy Truesdale & the Sundowners' for our first dance in 2009. Everyone is wondering what the new year will bring for the Club, but if the amount of people that turn up is anything to go by, its looking good. Tommy is as good as ever, and is creating a great atmosphere. A lot of the club's former members turned up, which is so good to see. Some of them we hadn't seen for many years. It all made it a pretty special night, giving the new year a good omen.
January 23rd 2009 with 'Jolene & Barry'
When Jolene & Barry are booked, a good night is guaranteed, and this time was no different at all. You are always guaranteed the best of Country music, with a few jokes thrown in. A good crowd turned up and A good We had a really nice crowd, who were relaxing after the Xmas and New Year rush, everyone agreed that it was nice to be back to 'normal'.
February 6th 2009 with 'Hillbilly Deluxe'
We had always enjoyed the music the guys from Hillbilly Deluxe played, and this time was certainly no different. The band is getting very popular, and they are attracting quite a following, which was good for them, and which of course is good for the club. They played a lot of very up-to-date music, but sadly quite a few members and visitors felt that the band was just too loud. When asked to turn it down, they obliged....but then turned it up again. Unfortunately this resulted them getting lower 'Band Of The Year' votes than they may be should have got. Take heed, guys! You are a great band, but a lot of people don't like their bands to be that loud that they have to scream at each other all night. All in all it was a great fun night with lots of good music, and we are looking forward to the next visit of Hillbilly Deluxe.
